Energy-Efficient Low-E Glass
We specify and install low-E insulated glass selected for the building’s climate, orientation and energy code, cutting energy costs and improving comfort.
Selecting the coating
Low-E coatings differ: high solar control for hot, sunny climates and west-facing glass; higher solar gain for cold climates; spectrally selective coatings for clarity with heat control. We select based on climate, orientation and the look the owner wants.
Code values
- U-factor limits for heat transfer
- Solar heat gain coefficient limits
- Climate zone requirements
- Local amendments such as Title 24 or the Massachusetts energy code
Retrofit options
Low-E insulated units can often replace failed or single-pane glass in existing frames.
