Glass installed within a few miles of the Pacific has to be specified differently than glass inland. Salt air pits aluminum finishes and attacks fasteners and hardware, so finish selection, stainless fasteners and hardware rated for coastal exposure all extend the life of a new storefront. We make those choices up front rather than after the first corrosion shows up.

Title 24 from the start
California’s Title 24 energy standards apply to new glazing and to most storefront replacements and alterations. That sets limits on how much heat the glass and frame can transfer and how much solar heat the glass lets in. We specify insulated low-E glass in thermally broken frames that meet those numbers and provide the product ratings the plan checker and energy consultant need.
Seismic detailing and safety glazing
Storefront and curtain wall systems are installed with the edge clearances and anchorage their manufacturers require so they can move with the building in an earthquake without breaking glass. Glass in doors, sidelites and other hazardous locations must be safety glazing. Both are built into our installation details.
