Storefront Glass Replacement
Replacing a storefront lite is a chance to put in better glass. We replace broken, cracked and fogged storefront glass and help owners choose upgrades such as low-E, laminated or safety glass while the frame is open.
More than a like-for-like swap
When one lite in a storefront needs replacing, matching the old glass is the default. But if that glass is single-pane, annealed in a location that now requires safety glass, or cracked from thermal stress, a better choice is available. Insulated low-E units cut heat loss and gain, laminated glass resists break-ins, and tempered or heat-strengthened glass resists thermal stress.
How replacement works
- Identify the existing glass and the frame’s glazing pocket size
- Check code requirements for the location of the lite
- Recommend matching or upgraded glass and price both
- Fabricate to exact size and install with new setting blocks, gaskets or tape
Replacing a whole storefront of glass
When several lites are failing or the owner wants better performance across the whole front, reglazing every lite with insulated low-E glass in the existing frames can be a cost-effective alternative to a new storefront, provided the frames are sound and deep enough.
